Is as important as preserving it. Here at the society, we want to make learning about Schuylkill County’s history engaging, enriching, and exciting- because it is! We offer field trips and educational programs at the Society’s headquarters and museum.

Programs

  • Schuylkill County Legends, Lore, and Ghost Stories

    • Local history with a paranormal twist!

    • Listen to local legends, lore, and ghost stories in a spirited setting.

    • A “campfire” sets the mood and creates a spooky experience for listeners.

  • A Taste of Schuylkill County

    • Learn local history with your taste buds!

    • Explore the local traditions and culture through food and drink popular in the county and made by local businesses.

    • Sample local foods- participants receive samples of food, ice cream, and a drink.

  • Schuylkill Countians and the Civil War

    • Learn about the lives and roles of the men and women in our county that served in the Civil War.

    • Learn about the day-to-day lives of soldiers serving, including children.

    • Sample a daily ration

    • See the rare artifacts within the museum’s Civil War Showroom

  • Schuylkill County Dance Party

    • Enjoy the ethnic sounds and bands developed within our county

    • Participate in a freeze dance competition and win a prize!

  • Breaker Boys & The Molly Maguires

    • Experience the lives of children within the mines

    • Learn about the infamous Molly Maguires and the events that cost them their lives

  • Pottsville Maroons: the case of the Stolen NFL Championship
