Local historian Larry Bulanda will join SCHS for a unique discussion about the SS United States, an ocean liner that is often referred to as “America’s Flagship,” and is scheduled to be sunk and turned into the world’s largest artificial reef.

Join us at SCHS as local historian Mark Major profiles more than 20 of Schuylkill County’s lesser-known WWII heroes and details the unique contributions of those who earned the Distinguished Cross, Silver Star or Bronze Star for courage, gallantry and extraordinary heroism in the face of the enemy.
America 250: The Tragic Story of Fred Anchorstar
Historian Rick Nagle will discuss the fascinating story of Gustav “Fred” Anchorstar, a Schuylkill Haven boy who enlisted in the US Army in WW2 and was eventually captured and sent to the Berga concentration camp in Germany.
