Dear Members and Friends of the SCHS,

We exist because of your belief in the importance of local history and its ability to educate, inspire, and connect generations. The Society is not government-run, we are sustained by people like you. Your contributions are what keep our doors open and our amazing history alive.

This past year has been one of remarkable growth and renewed purpose.

Some highlights include:

  • We welcomed record-breaking attendance and hosted more programs than ever before

  • Schools made the Society a regular field trip destination, introducing students to local history

  • We have also introduced the “Traveling Trunk” program to all local school districts

  • We proudly honored the legacy of the Maroons- our county’s rightful 1925 NFL champs

  • New windows were installed in our Civil War-era building, preserving the historic architecture

  • New exhibits celebrate the ethnic diversity that shaped Schuylkill County’s identity

  • The first county woman will be honored with a state historical marker

From coal barons to corner grocers, military generals to factory workers, our mission is to preserve and share the stories that make this county so special.

Looking Ahead to 2026: As our nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, Schuylkill County will be part of the story. Visitors from across the country will pass through our state, and we intend to be ready to welcome them and to showcase our county’s contributions to America’s journey. SCHS builds County pride! Your gift today helps us prepare for that moment. What your donation makes possible:

  • $50 helps us purchase archival materials to safeguard fragile documents and photographs.

  • $100 funds evening lectures and school programs that bring history to life for all ages.

  • $250 provides supplies to clean, frame, and label artifacts for public display.
